Credited as the UK’s first closed road sportive, the Marie Curie Etape Caledonia has established itself as a bucket list event within the cycling community. Preparing to celebrate its 10th year, the next edition of the sportive will be held on 8th May 2016.

One of the pinnacle events in the Scottish cycling calendar, the Marie Curie Etape Caledonia is staged in the breath-taking landscape of Highland Perthshire, both starting and finishing from the idyllic town of Pitlochry.

With fundraising an integral part of the event, many cyclists opt to take part in the 81-mile epic on behalf of Marie Curie. Joining the iconic ‘Team Marie Curie’, more than 1,000 fundraisers accumulated £300,000 through Charity Pledge Places for Marie Curie in 2015 alone.

James Robinson, Managing Director of IMG Mass Participation Sports commented: “This event continues to go from strength to strength, enjoying sell-out success and great support from the local community every year. From seasoned club cyclists, to first timers and fundraisers it’s a sportive that appeals to all. We’re really looking forward to returning to Pitlochry for our 10th edition.”

Selling out general entries in just 58 hours last year, hopeful participants are encouraged to sign up in advance to receive priority booking and guarantee their place at the start line. Entries go on sale later this month, cyclists can sign up now to the priority list at www.etapecaledonia.co.uk
